Help Us

Volunteer

As a registered charity, TEARS relies entirely on public donations and the generosity of animal lovers.

Being a pro-life society, there is no limit on how long a dog or cat can stay with us, but as the number of animals increases every year, so does our need for support from the community, especially for volunteers of all ages.

We are always looking for volunteers who provide us with a wonderful, much appreciated service.

If you would like to volunteer your services, here are a few ways in which to get involved:

Kennels

Working one-on-one with the dogs and puppies.

Includes jobs such as walking, grooming, rehabilitating and training our shelter animals, as well as spending time with the dogs and puppies, giving them love and attention or finding them new homes.

Cattery

Working one-on-one with the cats and kittens.

Includes tasks such as cleaning litter trays to bottle-feeding, rehabilitation and spending time with the cats and kittens, giving them love and attention or finding them new homes.

Animal Rescue

Help rescue animals in distress.

Office Assistant

Assist in the answering of phones, doing paperwork, general office and public relations, etc.

General Maintenance

Fixing of Kennels/Cattery, painting, handiwork, carpentry and repairs.

TEARS Charity Shops

Ideal for those of you who find it too heartbreaking to work with the animals.

Our three charity shops are always in need of assistance to sort and price the donated goods, place them onto the shelves and help the general public.

General Fundraising

Helping at events, shows, exhibitions or awareness displays; baking, knitting, crafts, needlework; Selling raffle tickets, Christmas cards, etc.

Street Collections

Shake a tin and collect money at our annual street collection.

Home-Checks

We are desperate for Home Checkers – people who are able to visit adopted animals to ensure their well-being and that our conditions of adoption are being adhered to.

Collection Tins

Place and gather collection tins to raise much needed funds.

Animal Food Collector

Collect large amounts of donated food from our sponsors/donators to feed our shelter pets and those in disadvantaged communities.

Gardening
Keen Gardeners with green fingers are always needed to beautify our premises!

It has been said “the best shelter is a caring community!”. With your help and the help of enough volunteers, we can make that statement come true at TEARS.
