The most well-known estate planning tools is probably the last will and testament. A will is a convenient and often simple and straightforward way to distribute assets to those you love according to your wishes. It is also a powerful way to help animals.
By including TEARS in your will, you will ensure that your compassion continues to make a difference to the lives of suffering animals long after you have gone.
You can structure your will to make TEARS a beneficiary of a specific rand amount or property, of a percentage of your estate, or of your residuary estate (whatever remains after specific bequests, expenses and provision for your loved ones have been accounted for).
To name TEARS in your will, all you primarily need is the following:
a.) TEARS’s full legal name: The Emma Animal Rescue Society
b.) TEARS’s permanent mailing address: PO Box 22376, Fish Hoek, CT, 7975
c.) Registration number?
In addition, the following language can generally be used to make a bequest to TEARS:
“I give, devise and bequeath to The Emma Animal Rescue Society, (registration name), with the permanent postal address of PO Box 22376, Fish Hoek, CT, 7975, the sum of R………… (or describe the real or personal property or percentage of your estate) to be used for it’s general purpose.”
The law protects your right to cancel or amend your bequest at any stage, should you chose to do so or should your circumstances dictate.
