“IF YOUR ANIMAL IS HAPPY, THE HOUSE WILL SMILE AND IF YOUR HOUSE SMILES, ALL YOUR HOPES WILL FLOURISH”
- Andrew Harvey.
In order for us to continue our necessary work of assisting animals in need,
we need your help!

Since TEARS’s beginning in 1999, our growth has been phenomenal, thanks largely to the amazing support and generosity from compassionate, caring people in our communities, vets, animal feed companies, businesses, volunteers and the general public.

You can make the life of an underprivileged animal a little better, by donating to TEARS.

Our three Charity Shops and our Bookshop are vital sources of revenue for us, as donated goods and books are sold thereby contributing greatly to our monthly income. We accept a wide range of good quality goods including bric-a-brac, jewellery, collectables, clothes, linen, appliances, household items, furniture and books.

Our Charity Shops are situated at:
Harry Goeman's Centre, Bergvliet (Charity Shop and Bookshop)
Nieuport Building, Recreation Road, Fish Hoek
The White House, Lekkerwater Road, Sunnydale

DONATE YOUR TIME

All non-profit organisations rely considerably on volunteers and TEARS is no exception. We have a wonderful team of volunteers who work tirelessly alongside our dedicated staff, be it working at the shelter with the animals, helping in the townships, assisting in our Charity Shops, fundraising, helping in the office, doing homechecks, or fostering animals.

Why not join our Dog-Walking Programme? Not only will you become fit, but, you will be ensuring that our shelter dogs receive mental stimulation, exercise, socialisation and some basic training. How rewarding.

Please support us and join the MySchool/MyPlanet Programme
MySchool (which includes MySchool, MyVillage and MyPlanet) is South Africa's number one community support system, raising almost 2 million a month for schools and charities. More and more top retailers are choosing the programme as a way of providing traceable, transparent and sustainable financial support for communities. The vision of the MySchool Programme is to connect all South Africans to a digital network for the benefit of communities, the environment, our partners and the country as a whole.

The MyVillage MyPlanet programme was launched as an extension of the MySchool programme, to provide community minded individuals the opportunity to support a worthy cause without having a prior relationship with a school.

The difference between the two new programmes are as follows:
  • MyVillage programme focuses on organisations that provide upliftment to communities and individuals in various ways other than the educational school environment.

  • MyPlanet programme focuses on organisations that provide improvement and protection of the environment and animals.
Whenever you visit selected stores and use your MySchool Card or My Planet, a percentage of your purchase will go to TEARS. It's an easy and effective way to support us and help the animals, whilst you shop! We receive almost R2000 per month from the MySchool/MyPlanet programme and we are endeavouring to increase this amount substantially.
