A selection of cats available for Adoption

Feral Cats:

Not all cats need to recline on soft cushions or lap from a bowl of cream! At our premises we have an enclosure for feral felines, who would be very content living on a farm, a smallholding, in stables or at a factory. Due to their backgrounds, they require little to make them happy and their natural ability to keep a rodent population under control is par excellence! They do not need constant human attention and, with basic food and water, would ensure that the area is kept rodent free – definitely a healthier option than putting down poison.

As all of our feral cats have been sterilised, there would be no problem with overpopulation and it has been proven in the past that when we have placed feral cats in a ‘working environment’, it results in a win-win situation, not only for the cat, but for the new owner as well! If you require their talents and would like to offer one of our “wild kids” a home, please contact the TEARS Cattery on 021 785 4482.

AIDS Cats:

  • People can’t catch AIDS from cats
  • Cats can live many healthy, happy years with feline AIDS
  • Good nutrition can keep the disease at bay for many years
  • AIDS cats should be prevented at all times from leaving your property as they may transmit the disease to other healthy cats through fighting
  • Feline AIDS is mostly transmitted by cat fights and by mating with infected cats
  • Transmission rates are low in a stable household of cats where there is no fighting or breeding
  • By neutering your male cats you can help prevent them from becoming infected with AIDS
  • By keeping your healthy cats inside at night you can minimise contact with neighbourhood cats and reduce the chance of your cats getting AIDS

Panda was knocked over in Glencairn and brought to TEARS where he recovered from his injuries, except for part of his tail, which had to be amputated. He is very talkative and loves to be the centre of attention, but hates being in a cage and has developed a skin allergy, possibly from stress. Unfortunately he has AIDS so he will need a special home where he can be prevented from roaming the streets and coming in contact with outside cats. He gets on well with other cats and children.

Jake, male; DOB ± 2005

Jake was found injured and neglected at the Goodwood Prison. He is a beautiful, very affectionate ginger-and-white cat who is extremely healthy despite having AIDS. He gets on well with other cats and children and would probably have many healthy, happy years ahead of him in a loving home.
